“I Had Nobody To Blame,” KL Rahul Speaks Up On Being Dropped From The Test Team In 2018

//

The second test match between India and England which is being played at Lord’s seems to be in an interesting situation as the both the teams have batted in their first innings and the hosts have taken a small lead of 27 runs with two days still remaining in the match. While it was the English skipper Joe Root who led from the front for his team as he scored 180 runs not out (18 fours), for India, it was opener KL Rahul who played a beautiful innings of 129 runs (12 fours & 1 six) and he was well supported by Rohit Sharma who played a brilliant knock of 83 runs (11 fours & 1 six).

Though the first test match at Trent Bridge ended in a draw, KL Rahul played useful innings of 84 and 26 runs in that match as well. Recently he opened up on how the century at Lord’s was special for him and also about the times when he was dropped from the test team in the year 2018.

While having a chat with Rohit Sharma in a video which was posted on the website of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Karnataka batsman said that scoring a hundred was really special not just because it was made at Lord’s but also for the fact that he was away from the purest form of cricket for around 2 years despite the fact that he has grown up wanting to become a test cricketer.

Talking about being dropped from the test team in 2018, the cricketer said that though it was hurtful, nobody has to be blamed for that as he was not able to give good performances so he was left with no options other than waiting for getting chances. He added that he enjoyed batting and getting a hundred at the home of cricket is certainly more special.

KL Rahul’s name will now be listed on the honour board at Lord’s as he scored a century over there and this is certainly a big achievement for him.

As far as the match is concerned, the England team got all out at the score of 391 at the end of the day in reply to India’s 364 and the visitors will start their second innings on the fourth day.
