Rahul Dravid Talks About Indian Dressing Room’s “Stressed” Atmosphere During NZvsSL
The head coach of the Indian cricket team, Rahul Dravid is a happy man as his team has qualified for the WTC finals and he has thanked the New Zealand cricket team for the support that it has given.
After the fourth and the final test match against Australia which ended in a draw, Rahul Dravid appeared in a show and when he was asked about keeping an eye on the New Zealand-Sri Lanka test match, the Indian head coach said that they tried to bring result in all the test matches they played in order to qualify for the WTC finals as they knew that they needed to win minimum 3 test matches in this series for this purpose.
Rahul Dravid added that they wanted to make the New Zealand-Sri Lanka series insignificant but things didn’t go as planned. He further said that after seeing the Ahmedabad pitch, they were sure that the toss would be of great importance and the manner in which the Aussies batted in the first two days, they were left with no choice other than depending on the result of the test match between the Kiwis and the Sri Lankans.
Rahul Dravid also said that he and the Indian team were hoping that Sri Lanka did not win the test match. Talking about the WTC, Dravid says that as each team has to play six test series, it is quite obvious that teams have to depend on each other despite giving their best performance. The former Indian skipper goes on to say that the Indian team is thankful to the Kiwis and points out that the good thing in this case is that usually the Kiwis knock the Indians out of the ICC tournaments but this time, they helped the Indians.
Dravid also said that they were stressed a little after seeing New Zealand aiming for a win rather than a draw and they also watched 5-6 overs during the lunch and it was really exciting.
India has won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 by 2-1 and now it will clash against Australia in the WTC finals which will be played on 7 June 2023 at The Oval, London.
